The night you met, the first kiss, the first date. You can see exactly which stars were over you at that exact moment. Enter the date, the place and the time into a star map, and it calculates the sky as it stood above that exact spot. A personalised star map print shows the sky just as it was: the perfect reminder of how it all began.
Quick answer: yes, you can get the real sky from the night you met. Star positions are known for any date, forwards and backwards, so type in your date and place and the builder draws your sky while you watch. Prints start from £21.99.
Can you really see the stars from the night you met?
Yes. Stars move across the sky in a way astronomers can calculate to the exact minute, forwards and backwards. The Earth turns once a day and travels around the Sun once a year, so the sky over any place at any moment can be worked out from star catalogue data.
Every order is made bespoke, one of a kind, for our customers. We have been creating these star maps since 2018, and it is truly an honour to be part of over 50,000 moments captured in the stars.
That means the sky above the bar, the festival field or the bus stop where it started is not lost. It can be drawn again exactly as it was, even if neither of you looked up at the time.
What do you need to know to make one?
Two things:
- The date and time. The date is the one thing that has to be right. Check old messages, photos or tickets if you are not sure. Many customers add a time too, and if you know it, add it, because the time can make a big difference to the visible sky. Otherwise leave it blank and we use midnight as the default.
- The place. Search by town, venue or postcode. The nearest town is close enough if the spot was somewhere remote. Within the UK, the location makes less visual difference than you might think. Moving north or south tilts the sky slightly relative to your horizon: Glasgow is about four degrees further north than London, so on the same date and time the two maps look very similar, with the stars shifted a little towards the edge.
What if you don't remember the exact time?
Don’t worry. Most customers do not choose a time, just the exact date that matters most to them. Every map needs a time, so if none is chosen we use midnight.
If you remember a moment, like the first dance, the last train or the first kiss, use that. It gives the print its own story, and that is what star maps are all about: the moment that matters most.
What if you met in the daytime?
The stars were still there, just hidden by daylight. A star map shows where they stood at that moment. Plenty of couples who met over lunch or at work choose the true time anyway, because it is their moment, captured in the stars.
What should you write on a night we met star map?
Keep it short so the sky stays the main event. Two names and the date always work. Some favourites:
- “The night we met”
- “Under these stars, it started”
- A lyric from the song that was playing
- The place name, if it is part of the story

When is the best time to give it?
Most people give a night we met star map on an anniversary, for Valentine's Day, or as part of a proposal. It also works for a wedding: the night you met on one wall and the wedding night on another. For more ideas, see our guide to day we met gifts.
If the place matters as much as the sky, a location map of the street where it happened makes a matching pair.
How quickly can you get it?
Most weekday orders placed before 3:30pm leave Manchester the same day, on free tracked UK delivery that usually takes 1 to 2 working days. Choose a frame when you order and it arrives ready to hang.
Need it sooner? Choose Guaranteed Next Day at checkout (£5.95). It now includes Saturday, so a Friday order before 3:30pm can still arrive for the weekend.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I see what the stars looked like the day we met?
Yes. Enter the date, place and time into a star map and it calculates the sky over that spot at that moment. The live preview shows it before you buy.
Do I need the exact time we met?
No. Most customers choose just the date that matters most to them. If no time is chosen, the map uses midnight. If you remember a moment, like the first kiss, use that.
We met during the day. Does it still work?
Yes. The stars were there behind the daylight, and the map shows where they stood at that moment.
How much is a night we met star map?
